Any cell phone can be turned into a "3 watt powerhouse", resulting in substantially improved signal and expanded coverage area. Laptop data air cards will also benefit with improved data speeds thanks to increased bandwidth given by the nearest cell tower. There are three kinds of signal boosters.
- Wired vehicle booster
The 3 watt wired signal booster requires that your phone is inserted into a phone cradle with built-in antenna connection. Currently phone holders are available for newer Motorola's and Blackberry's. An external antenna is placed on the roof or windshield, and the cable is routed to the booster. The signal is amplified as it passes through the booster. For laptop users a separate extension cable is required to physically connect to the air card.
- Wireless vehicle amplifier
The 3 watt wireless version does NOT require that your phone is placed in a phone holder/cradle. Instead the wireless amplifier will radiate, or repeat, the improved signal inside the vehicle, benefiting any cell phone or laptop data card used. A great choice for Corporate vehicles where different drivers use the same vehicle. Although a bit more expensive then a wired booster, the wireless is a great choice as it works with all phones and aircards and will thus not become obsolete.
- In building repeater
Improving signal reception and laptop data speeds inside small and medium size buildings can be achieved by installing one of our "in-building" systems. An external antenna, Yagi type or omni directional is placed on the roof and the 50 or 60 db gain repeater is inside the addict where it connects to an inside repeat antenna. Total costs for antenna systems usually ranges from $500 up to $1200, plus the cost of installation.
